How the Process Works

This is a condensed version of NYSERDA's "What to Expect Brochure"

Step 1 - The Comprehensive Home Assessment:
For a free audit, NYSERDA's audit application needs to be filled out. It usually takes roughly a week to be approved. After the approval notice is received, an audit can be setup by calling or emailing us. The audit takes roughly 2 hours, and we will need access to every room, as well as the attic and basement. We will use our equipment to inspect your home, and discuss problems your home may have, such as cold or drafty areas.

Step 2 - The Customer Contract:

Using the results obtained during the audit, we come up with one or multiple scenarios of work that can be completed to save you money and make your home more comfortable. In the scenarios will be total cost, estimated savings, and rebates that we offer through NYSERDA and LIPA. CURRENT REBATES Financing is also available if needed.

Step 3 - Signing the Contract:
After a scenario is chosen and any needed changes are made, the contract is signed and sent to NYSERDA for approval. The approval process usually takes another week.

Step 4- Installation of Your Energy Efficiency Improvements:
After the approval of the job and rebates, we schedule a time for work to start. All of our work is completed by us, we do not sub-contract any of it out. Our work is top quality, and we maintain the highest possible rating standards with LIPA and NYSERDA reviews. We clean up at the end of each day, take our boots off anytime we walk through the house, and maintain a clean work area. You are welcome to be at home throughout the entire process except for times when we are applying spray foam insulation.

Step 5 - Final Tests:
After our work is completed we do a complete audit test out. This ensures the work we promised was completed properly, and also double checks that the home is safe.

Step 6 - Follow Up Testing and Communication:
NYSERDA often sends independent contractors to check the quality and completion of our work. Homeowners are normally contacted within two months of job completion if the home is to be inspected and audited. The audit usually takes an hour and is scheduled at the most convenient time for the homeowner.
In addition we like to keep in contact with our customers, usually sending out an email or phone call in the first 6-12 months. Usually near the end of summer or winter, to make sure you are happy with the job and see how much money you saved on your energy bills.
